Storytime! One thing that's taken me a while to learn is that there's not just one right way to be something or to do something. Stereotypes aren't rules. Embracing your unique voice helps you to tell your story in the way that only you can. And I love this book because it teaches kiddos exactly that. Take a peek!

IT'S HERE! IT'S HERE!

Introducing my vlog. (In which I introduce myself.)

Happy anniversary New York City! To celebrate, I've launched my first ever vlog. Filled with silly stories, heart-to-heart, comedy sketches, special guest Q&A's and more, this online variety show aims to bring a smile to your day! Episode One: Welcome.

Who Am I and What Am I Doing Here?

Hi friends (and people who don't know me but somehow found your way to my page!)

This is me:

And this is my blog.

In fact, it's my very first blog. Ever. Welcome!

Who am I?

Well,
I was born with a black eye.
A snapping turtle tried to bite off my finger once.
I love having dance parties alone in my room.
One time I convinced my sister that there was a leprechaun living in the floorboards.
Glitter is one of my desk supplies.
I love a good motivational quote.
The carousel is my favorite amusement park ride.
TD Bank likes to ask if I'm related to Beyoncé (same last name, no relation...or is there?)
I like orange juice, mandarin oranges, and clementines, but not oranges or orange Skittles.
I've been known to chase fireworks and stake out rainbows (more on this later).
I love when I can surprise myself.

I'm also an actor in NYC, (insert cliché small town girl who moved to a big city to make my dreams come true story here). My ultimate goal is to star in my own TV comedy that I create, getting to perform in Broadway plays during our hiatus. And to play with baby piglets. I don't know about you but I think that sounds like quite the life!

"Leave everything you do, every place you go, everything you touch a little better for your having been there."
                           —Dame Julie Andrews

What am I Doing Here?

Funny you should ask! Well, I wanted to do something super special for my 4 year anniversary with NYC, and starting a blog seemed like the perfect thing to do. I love telling stories (one of the many reasons I ended up an actor), and I thought it would be fun to share some of them with you. I also believe very strongly in equal representation and women's rights, so I very much wanted to create something to help spotlight all of the incredible women who have been such defining influences in my life. Plus, I wanted to make some silly comedic sketch videos. Laughter is important. My blog (which will feature written content but mainly be in VLOG--video blog--form) seemed like the best way to do all of the above.

An Online Variety Show is Born

I'm calling my vlog a variety show in that it's a show on YouTube made up of short videos that cover a wide variety of topics. See what I did there!? It's scary and exciting, and makes my heart feel very full. I'm thrilled to get a chance to be goofy/creative/intelligent/weird/whimsical and all of those intricate contradictions that make human beings human.

And I'm even more thrilled to get to share my goofy/creative/intelligent/weird/whimsical self with you.

"I think if you can dance and be free and not embarrassed
you can rule the world."
